About AIIMS, Guwahati Assam
AIIMS Guwahati is an autonomous Institute of National Importance under India's Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. It was established under PMSSY in May 2017, and the institute's foundation stone was laid on 26 May 2017. Its first academic session began in January 2021 with MBBS students at a temporary campus. The institute now operates from its main campus at Changsari, which includes institutional, hospital, hostel and residential complexes. Its stated objectives include undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and improved tertiary healthcare access. The official overview also describes nursing education and a planned 750-bed hospital facility.
