About SMS Medical College, Jaipur
Sawai Man Singh Medical College, commonly known as SMS Medical College, is a government medical institution in Jaipur, Rajasthan, established in 1947. It began in the south wing of SMS Hospital and the Jaipur Medical Association building, with Dr. G. N. Sen as its first principal. The college received recognition from the Medical Council of India in 1952, and postgraduate MD and MS education began in the same year. It is affiliated with the Rajasthan University of Health Sciences (RUHS), Jaipur. Academic programmes include MBBS, BDS, postgraduate medical courses, diploma programmes, and super-specialty courses such as DM and MCh. The college is associated with Sawai Man Singh Hospital and other attached hospitals, providing clinical training alongside medical education. Its academic and clinical activities also include research and specialist healthcare services.
