Institute of Medical Sciences BHU, Banaras Uttar Pradesh

The Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS-BHU) is a constituent institute of Banaras Hindu University, a central university established in 1916. IMS began functioning as the College of Medical Sciences in 1960, with departments covering modern medicine and Ayurveda. The institute comprises the Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Ayurveda, Faculty of Dental Sciences, and College of Nursing. Its academic programmes include MBBS, BDS, BAMS, nursing, postgraduate MD/MS and MDS courses, super-specialty DM/MCh programmes, and doctoral research. Clinical education is supported by Sir Sunderlal Hospital, the Trauma Centre, and specialist facilities including the Centenary Super Speciality Block. The institute also supports medical and interdisciplinary research, advanced clinical services, telemedicine, and practical training across its departments and associated healthcare facilities.
